“Online therapy has many advantages,” explains Bisma Anwar, a licensed professional mental health counselor and therapist at the virtual therapy platform Talkspace. “It offers convenience, accessibility, and flexibility.” For these reasons, she says that many clients actually prefer to see their therapist online; they can squeeze it in between work or meetings without having to spend extra time getting ready or commuting. “Not needing to travel to a therapist’s office suits those who have busy schedules, mobility issues, or those who live in remote areas. It increases the access to mental health services since it is not limited by geographical barriers.”
